Location Profiles
A Location Profile is a named, reusable set of Locations within a Warehouse, defined by match criteria such as Zones, Racks, Rack Types, Location Labels, Slot Types, or Location Tags. Slotting Rules reference a Location Profile to define where their restrictions apply, so several rules can share one profile instead of each repeating the same criteria.
Location Profiles are not the same as Product Profiles — a Product Profile groups Products, while a Location Profile groups Locations.
How to Create a Location Profile
- Navigate to System -> Operations -> Location Profiles.
- Click Create Location Profile.
- Fill in the Name field and choose the Warehouse. The warehouse cannot be changed after the profile is created. Optionally add a Description to record the profile's purpose for other administrators.
Add Location Match criteria rows (optional). Rows are combined with AND, so a Location must satisfy every row to belong to the profile.
Leave the Location Match empty to create a profile that matches all locations in the warehouse.- Click Save Location Profile.
After saving, ShipStream builds the profile's location membership in the background. The Status field shows Building… while this runs and Ready (with the matched location count) once it completes. A profile must be Ready before a Slotting Rule can use it.
Editing a Shared Location Profile
The Used By field shows how many Slotting Rules and Replenishment Policies reference the profile. Editing the match criteria changes the locations for every rule and policy that uses it — a warning is shown when the profile is shared. After an edit, the profile rebuilds in the background and enforcement follows the new definition once it is Ready again.
Deleting a Location Profile
A Location Profile that is still used by any Slotting Rule or Replenishment Policy cannot be deleted. Remove or repoint the referencing rules and policies first, then click Delete Location Profile.
Grid Columns
The Location Profiles grid shows each profile's Location Match criteria summary, Description, Status, the number of matched Locations, Freshness (when the current membership became active, and the progress of any rebuild), live usage counts for Slotting Rules and Replenishment Policies, and Updated At — so you can see the blast radius of an edit before opening the profile.
