Warehouse Overview

Warehouse Setup is the model of your building: the Locations that hold stock, the way those Locations are grouped and travelled, and the rules that decide what may be stored where. You configure this once when you open a Warehouse and revise it as the operation changes. The daily flows that consume this setup are in Floor Operations.

In the Admin UI most of these screens are under Operations > Warehouse, and the reusable types and rules are under System > Operations.

The warehouse model

Each of these builds on the one before it, so it is worth working through them in order.

• Locations - the barcoded slots that inventory is stored in.
• Racks - named groups of Locations, with a label pattern and a position along the pick route.
• Zones - groups of Racks that are close to each other, used to keep Picking Batches compact.
• Pick Routes - the order a picker travels through your Racks.
• Slot Types - labels that decide whether a Location is pickable and how much fits in it.
• Location Profiles - reusable sets of Locations matched by Zone, Rack, Slot Type or tag.
• Slotting Rules - where each Product may, should, or must not be put away.
• Slotting Density - how Products are ranked when choosing preferred Locations.
• Replenishment Lanes - the source and destination Location Profiles used for replenishment.
• Replenishment Policies - the days-of-inventory targets that flag a pick face for restocking.

Equipment, labelling and bulk setup

• Assets - Asset Types and Asset Policies for the carts and trucks used during picking.
• License Plates - reusable barcodes attached to inventory so it can be identified with one scan.
• Import Locations, Lots and Inventory - create or update Locations and their contents in bulk from a file.

Batching Setup

• Picking Classes - the groupings that decide which Shipments can be batched and picked together.
• Batching Presets - saved combinations of Picking Class, Asset Type and Zone for composing a batch consistently.
• Batching Priorities - the 0-9 priority that decides which Shipments are pulled into a batch first.

ShipStream Flow

• Background Images - place a floor plan behind your layout as a reference while designing it.
• Rack Label Patterns - the label patterns that generate Location labels automatically when extending or duplicating a Rack group.
